how to install hebrew on ubuntu 10.10 netbook wdition?

as it said in the title, how can i install Hebrew language full support on this Ubuntu edition?

also, the font in Firefox isn't that comfortable! which one is used as default in Windows OS and how can i make it the default one here?

one last question, is there a getting started guide, like what need to know first etc.. on Ubuntu in general? i only tried it for a few hours 2-3 years ago, so I'm kind of entirely new to it!

yuhj what is the difference between the netbook version to desktop version? the first should be lighter according to what i read, only i feel it's very heavy on my LG X120 netbook, like I'm running Win 7 on it! also, if i try the desktop version, will it automatically recognise the hardware like netbook one did?

In KDE desktop

older versions : kickoff - system settings - regional & language - keyboard layout

newer versions IIRC : kickoff - system settings - input devices - keyboard layout

In Gnome desktop : system - preferences - keyboard - layouts

All differences in all Ubuntu remakes get down to different default settings and installed stuff. You can change any setting and install anything on any version of Ubuntu so it doesnt matter too much

Hardware recognition depends on the drivers installed. They all are supposed to support hardware automatically (at most you'll have to install a driver)

Modern KDE (and possibly modern Gmone too idk) use the GPU to process the OS and desktop graphics (including in not-3d applications). Bad performance is sometimes if video driver is not installed or does not support acceleration

Sometimes you have nepomuk / strigi / virtuoso / similar stuff running in the background. Disable it if you dont need it

תודה על התגובה . אחרי קריאה ארוכה באינטרנט על אבונטו גרסת נטבוק, הבנתי שהיא אומנם מיועדת למחשבים ניידים חלשים יחסית, אבל האירוניה שהיא דווקא כבדה מאוד ולא נוחה מבחינת תצוגה, ממש מה שהתלוננתי! התקנתי את גרסת ה-desktop הרגילה, ואני חייב לומר שהשינוי הוא אדיר, גם בייחס לגרסת ה-netbook וגם ביחס לווינדאוס XP! הכל מהיר יותר, יפה יותר ופשוט יותר .

מקווה שחווית השימוש בה תשאר כמו עכשיו, מאוד מרוצה (את הווינדאוס כבר מחקתי, נשארתי רק עם אבונטו).

תודה שוב, כל הבעיות שציינתי נפתרו .
