הלקוח מתחבר אל השרת ושולח אליו את המחרוזת "this is a test".

השרת מקבל את המחרוזת, מדפיס את אורכה, ושולח אותה בחזרה אל הלקוח.

הלקוח מקבל אותה ומדפיס את אורכה גם כן.
