מה הכיוון המומלץ לפיתוח אפליקציה / DLL ב-C++

עם ממשק משתמש (רצוי MFC) שניתן לקרוא לה מאפליקציה אחרת ? (קריאה עם פרמטרים, וכמובן החזרת "תשובה" בסיום הריצה או תוך כדי)

לא עסקתי בזה שנים רבות, בזמנו היה COM/ATL, ACTIVEX, אני לא בטוח מה הכיון הנכון.

הסביבה היא כמובן חלונאית.
