* Ability to record data on to media natively in Windows .

* Windows Connect Now (WCN) to simplify Configuration.

* Improved support for resuming with active connections.

* Enables the exFAT file system to support UTC timestamps, which allows correct file synchronization across time zones.

* Support for ICCD/CCID smart cards.

* Support for VIA 64-bit CPUs.

Unlike previous Windows service packs, SP2 cannot be installed unless SP1 is installed first, while Windows and Server 2008 will also share a single service pack binary
