יחידת הבקרה / Control Unit

The situation may be represented as in Figure 2.5. The Data Register and

Memory Address Register are under the control of the Control Unit,

which initiates all transactions. The Control Unit places an address in the

memory Address register which is passed to the main Memory where an

address decoder selects the cell given by the address. The Data Register

is opened for reading and the selected cell is opened for writing, allowing

the data in the Data Register to be copied to the cell, OR, the Data Register

is opened for writing and the cell is opened for reading, allowing a copy

of the cells contents to be created in the Data Register. When the

transaction is finished both the cell and the Data Register are closed. The

actual transfer processes are described below.
