as every ADSL user in Israel, you all feel the major slowdown happening in the last few months.

this is coused by cheap hardware Bezeq (=Nezeq) bought when starting the aDSL project.

usally, the slowdown doesn't have anything to do with your ISP, but with the major load on Bezeq's servers.

i've attached a trace, done at 2:15AM.

the 1st "hop" is the nearest place to my modem, it's my ISP router, that writes down i'm connected, bla bla bla, and assign me with my own IP, usally, it would be XXX.XXX.YYY.???

when, X are always the same, and Y can be 2 options, and ? always change.

as u see, it gives 50-70 ms ping, that is about the ping thats a ISDN connection gives.

aDSL should give 20-40ms, i'm using KZ (012.net) and about 2 months ago, i was getting that 20ms ping, sadly, they sux now like every1 else.

the 2nd hop, is the faulty Bezeq hardware.

it's something thats called a redback, or something like that, it handles the connection, and transfer the data to u, from your ISP (that is why, if it's fucked, u get shitty speeds). and it's very weak, in 2AM, it gives 130ms, as u see it's bad.

i've already filed a official complain to Bezeq. they say that there is a procedure, they now, 2 weeks check that the server does have a load, and then they will upgrade it.

i think it's BS, they just buying time or something.

the 3rd hop, is already my ISP "Mainframe", this is the ISP core, that connects me with the Internet. if thats fucked up, the problem is at the ISP.

from there, it leaves teh ISP and goes into the net.

as i'm tracing www.vgames.co.il (i think they the only 1 (in isarel) that didn't close the ping port vs ddos attacks, lol) it's starting to route by KZ IIX networks (which are KZ weak side) (IIX= the internet network inside Israel) and then reach my destenation, vgames. (they sit on Internet gold by the access and IZahav addresses)

if i'd try to trace a site in US, it would go to NY/NYC, and keep on from there ('couse that where KZ's 1st station to USA)

point is, bezeq is fucking with us all, the service should be better for what it costs, call them, flood them.

who do u call?

1st, your ISP support, try to talk with whoever answers your, and tell him to forward it. if it doesn't work, scream on every1 there, ask to speak with some1 incharge, tell him the problem is at that IP server (if thats the case), he should contact bezeq and and do the rest.

NOTE, that 2nd hop will change from every zone in Israel and ISP, but i bet my zone is not the only 1 that has a load. it's called "hasaron" zone, any1 from that area that is using KZ will probebly have the same numbers as i got.

the speed factor is made out of the following, ASSUMING that the ISP and everything else, in Israel are working ok.

how far is the server. (in hops)

the ping ofcourse.

and the packetloss.

if the server is close, and the ping is low (usally, when the server is close, the ping is good) you'll be getting great speeds.

if it's far and ping sux, u'll be getting shitty speeds.

i can send into Israel in around 1.2MB/sec from EU (Europe), if both servers are connected well, that means, that if there is an option (= everything is actually working), u should always get the poor 200kps, from any place.

try downloading from UK, Italy, Holland, Sweeden, these places are usally connected pretty good with Israel.

(try the tucows servers that are over there, there is a tucows server everywhere in the world)

it means that Bezeq IIX netowrk got problems. the reading should still be 20-40

yesterday, i managed to get for few hours 20 ping inside Israel, sometimes 10, but today it's bad again.

they told me they started fixing it...

if at any time you are getting over 50 ping inside Israel, using aDSL, call support, they don't do anything, 'couse people don't call!
