בשנה שעברה ראינו לראשונה את DOTA 2 בתחרות שהתקיימה ב GAMESCOM (גרמניה), קבוצת Na'Vi זכתה במקום הראשון ובמיליון דולר.

VALVE אשרו שהשנה The International יתקיים ב PAX PRIME (שהרבה יותר קרוב ל VALVE). כמו כן הם אשרו ש DK ו Na'Vi (שכניראה תגן על התואר) היו הקבוצות הראשונות שהוזמנו לתחרות.

התחרות תתקיים בין התאריכים Aug 31 ו- Sept. 2 (הפרש התאריכים בין GAMESCOM ו PAX PRIME יחסית קטן).
