What is HDCP?

HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection and is an Intel-initiated program that was developed with Silicon Image. This content protection system is mandatory for high-definition playback of HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs. If you want to watch movies at 1980x1080, your system will need to support HDCP. If you don’t have HDCP support, you’ll only get a quarter of the resolution. A 75% loss in pixel density is a pretty big deal

גילו שכל כרטיסי המסך לא תומכים בקודק כי אין בהם את החומרה הזו. אם קנית היום כרטיס מסך ב-3500 ש"ח, עוד שנה לא תוכל להנות מכל היתרונות שblu-ray וHD-DVD יספקו - לא תוכל לראות סרטים בצפיפות גבוהה.

HDCP נועד כדי להכניס כסף לאינטל (יש לה זכויות יוצרים על הקודק) HDCP יספק וידאו באיכות מדהימה. מדובר בתקן שיכנס חזק מאוד.

הם פשוט רוצים שתקנה רישיון. כדי לקרוא את הקודק אתה צריך חומרה מתאימה, ועל החומרה הזו (או הפטנט) יש רישיון.

עכשיו, גם nVIDIA וגם ATI מכריזים שהכרטיסים שלהם תומכים. בפועל, הGPU תומך אבל צריך להוסיף צ'יפ על הכרטיס (ליד הGPU).

בקיצור, הכריזו שתומכים בHDCP אבל זה חרטא.

נכון, אבל בעסה לקנות את ה7800 או את הX1900 באלפי שקלים ולא לקבל את מה שמובטח.

לא היית מצטער לקנות ב3500 ש"ח כרטיס מסך ולגלות אחרי שנה שאתה לא יכול להריץ סרט בHD?

מי שיש לו כסף לקנות את הכרטיסים הללו ירצה לקנות את bluray או hdDVD כשיגיעו.
