במאפיינים של כל קובץ (ובעיקר בתיקיות) רשום "גודל" ו"גודל על הדיסק", ולרוב הם שונים. מה זה אומר???

    גודל הוא הגודל האמיתי של הקובץ.

    גודל על הדיסק הוא הגודל שתופס הקובץ בפועל על הדיסק.

    גודל הקובץ על הדיסק גדול יותר לרוב משום שהדיסק מחולק להמון "משבצות קטנות" (גודל המשבצות תלוי במערכת ההפעלה, והגדרות מערכת הקבצים. ב NTFS זה לרוב 4 קילובייט), וגם אם קובץ תופס חלק ממשבצת כל המשבצת תפוסה, ולא ניתן להשתמש בה לקובץ אחר.
