Q: I have this (S)VCD which is 800 MB. How do I burn it to my 700 MB CD-R?

A: (S)VCD's are written in a different format than normal data CD's. CD's are written with a sector size of 2352 bytes. For data CD's only 2048 bytes are used for the data, while the rest is used for error correction. For (S)VCD's all of the 2352 bytes are used (indeed, no error correction).

What does this mean? If you have a 700 MB CD-R, you can fit 700 MB * 2352 bytes / 2048 bytes = 804 MB of video on it.

In Nero you'll have to start up a VCD or SVCD project to be able to do this. If you start up a normal mode2/xa project and add the mpg/dat, it obviously won't fit.

Another thing: BIN's are images of CD's including the extra error correction bytes, i.e. the complete 2352 byte sectors are present. That's why they can also be 800 MB's.
