[ltr]I upgraded my Alcatel SpeedTouch home into a pro and now I'm lucky if BitTorrent hits 10kb/s. it's not that I doesn't download at all, it does but very slowly around 3kb/s usually. I could be just bad sources, but it's not likely, since I've tried many different torrents.

and besides that I've noticed another thing, when BT is running on this computer, even if it only downloads a total of 10bk/s, the other computer can't even surf normally, though this one can.

youre alcatel is now probably a router. you should open the ports related to bittorrent and then it will return to its normal, "HighId" state.

you can do it by accessing the router configuration through a specific ip address (changes between the routers..).

assign "port fowarding" for your BT.

[ltr]I'm using the alcatel modem as a router (I meantioned that before). the thing is that is does download, but it does that very slowly. I know how to create a static NAT-PAT, is that what you meant? if not how do I "do" a port forward?

כלומר - המודם עכשיו חוסם את כל הפורטים הנכנסים לכל המחשבים ברשת.

אתה צריך לעשות אחד משני דברים:

האפשרות הראשונה היא להגדיר את המודם להעביר את כל הפורטים לIP הפנימי שלך ואז בעצם ביטלת את תכונת חסימת הפורטים של המודם(אגב זה נכון רק לגבי IP אחד ברשת - כל שאר המחשבים ברשתעדיין יהיהו חסומי פורטים).

במצב הזה שכבת ההגנה שלך תישאר רק הפיירוול של SP2.

האפשרות השניה(לא ממליץ), היא לקבוע פורטים מסויימים שאתה רוצה(פורטים של תוכנות שיתוף וכו') שיעברו למחשב שלך.

אם אתה על אוטומטי, קבע IP קבוע (למשל 10.0.0.1) ותמלא בשדות המתאימים את הDNSים שלהספק שלך.

[ltr]I got DHCP enabled in case a new computer is added to the network, but I use static IPs on both computers I have, so it'll be easier to menage (pings, file transfers, lan games, etc). DNS is defined as the 10.0.0.138 (the router's IP). and I'll I'll tell you exactly what happened. after adding defserver addr 10.0.0.1 (this computer) saving and rebooting the route I could only surf HWzone as it was the only website open, trying any other website resulted in a time out. I tried rebooting the computer and then I couldn't connect to anything though BT was able to connect, although the speed dropped back to the 5-10kb/s range.

I removed the defserver setting (defserver addr 0.0.0.0) saved and rebooted and added manually the first 9 ports (:nat create tcp 10.0.0.1:6881 0.0.0.0:6881 x9 time) needless to say it was quite annoying. I looked a way to add the whole range (6881-6999), couldn't find anything, but I did menage to find a tool that made it a little bit easier called alcatool. I used it to define another 10 ports (it still can't define a range, though if it's in an application level it shouldn't be something that hard, just a simple loop ). anyways the speed is much better and I can surf, but I want to define the whole range or at least make my comp the default IP for Port Forwarding, and I have no idea how to do that, and defserver doesn't work (if indeed it's the right command)![/ltr]

1. defserver זו הפקודה הנכונה

2. כפי שציינתי אני משתמש בה עם אותה קונפיגורציה של המערכת אצלך והכל עובד.

3." DNS is defined as the 10.0.0.138" - זה אמור להיות הgateway! לא הDNS.

מה שמוביל אותי להכין תמונה שתמחיש את מה שהסברתי בתשובה הקודמת:

הגדר כך, והכל אמור לעבוד.

[ltr]the DNS is defined in the router and the router IP is defined as the DNS in the computer and it works. maybe it will work with the defserver, if the DNS is defined in the computer itself. I'll try it tomorrow as I'm currently downloading something and I don't want to fuck up the speed. btw, try the alcatool, it's quite useful.[/ltr]
