My friend built a computer basing on the following components:

Athlon XP 2800 Barton CPU

Abit NF7 motherboard

2x512 Samsung 400MHz DDR

120GB WD HDD

The system starts as 2800 ... etc

But according to Sandra, the CPU benchmarks are between Athlon XP 2400+ and Athlon XP 2600+.

When he tried to overclock, the FSB couldn't be raised above 180MHz (system didn't post). Booted with the FSB 180MHz, the benchmarks' results were just the same as without the overclocking.

When installed Athlon 2500 Barton CP instead (on the same system), the FSB was raised upto 200MHz, the system booted as 3200 and WinXP functioned normally.

What might be the problem with Barton 2800 ? Just lame CPU, or it isn't overclockable ?

ביצועי ה-OC של ה-2800+ ירודים לעומת ה-2500+, ל-2500+ מכפלה נמוכה יותר ולכן הוא מגיע ל-FSB גבוה יותר, ל-2800+ מכפלה גבוהה ו-FSB יותר נמוך, זו הסיבה.

ה 2800 לא גרוע בכלל ב OC אפילו שהמכפלה שלו גבוהה אוליי ביצועים נטו ה 2500 יהיה עדיף בגלל שהוא יכול להגיע לבאס יותר גבוהה אבל זה ממש לא בעיה להפעיל את ה 2800+ ב 2400MHZ יציב !! אפילו על 190 באס * 12.5 תנסה להעלות מתח למעבד !!

איזה זיכרון יש לך ??

גם ללא OC, הבצועים הם בערך כמו 2600 ...
