    לאיזה מטרות? בASP.NET אפשר לכתוב מערכות GIS, שרתי דוא"ל, שרתי משחק, מערכות שו"ב ונו"ב שלמות, ובעצם כל תוכנה שאפשר לכתוב ב.NET רק עם frontend שהוא וובי, בPHP גם הfrontend וגם הbackend הם "ווביים" בסופו של דבר. אם מדובר רק על אתרים נטו אז שניהם הם יחסית בתיקו כאשר ל-PHP יש יתרון בביצועים ול-ASP.NET יש יתרון קל בזמן פיתוח ו-deployment.
