I am so so pleased that I bought the VP171 screen that I felt compelled to write and share this review.

Initially, I wanted to buy the conventional CRT monitor being a hardcore gamer this seemed to be the only right option.

I read loads of reviews and articles, and decided to buy the Iiyama PRO 454 (19).

Luckily for me, the one I bought was faulty: the screen kept shifting every time I turned the screen on. I couldnt quite straighten the boarder lines as hard as I tried.

And most important: the picture wasnt as clear or uniform as I expected it to be.

Would you believe it, but my Mom told me: Why buy this old radiating CRT when can buy the new (not too expensive) LCD?.

So this is where the search for the best 17 LCD began.

Again, I spent hours upon hours searching for the best LCD monitor for games and quality.

Vp171 (b is for black) was my choice. Why:

1.   Every pixel is clear and visible no burly corners like in the CRTs.

2.   No screen boarder alignment needed every line is straight no boarder tweaking needed.

3.   Using the Digital input, you DONT need to correct the screen image all is done automatically (and well).

4.   No flickers/shades one of my biggest fears how would I play games or watch movies otherwise?

5.   You have _THREE_ thats right 3 cable inputs: 1 Digital, 2 Analog!

6.   Comes with 2 cables: 1 Analog, 1 Digital unlike the NEC LCD that you need to buy the Digital (DVI) cable!

7.   You can actually turn the monitor 90 degrees from Landscape to Portrait! The OSD _also_ changes!

8.   You can tilt the screen, turn it, and move it up and down. You can even hang it on the wall if you want to.

9.   Its remarkable how light weighted it is! Compared to the 19 CRT I had, this was real _FUN_ to take from the car all the way to my desk no back hurting as with the 36kilos CRT monitors!

10.   Although 17 and although the optimal resolution it 1280x1024 the text is _clear_, crisp and completely readable.

11.Low power consumption no strain on the UPS in case of power failure

12.Quality/price best 16msec response time LCD.

Conclusion:

As I said, I was a CRT fan and was afraid the LCD monitors have not reached the level where you can use them for games and movies.

ViewSonics Vp171b has shown me otherwise.

Read the points I pointed out all the CRT problems have been solved by this marvelous LCD.

גם לי יש אותו.. אני מסכים שהוא טוב..

לא יודע אם הכי טוב לתקציב שלו.

ניתן למצוא את ה-Hyundai וסמסונג בפחות כסף.

אולי לא 16ms, אבל כפי שכבר נאמר בפורום, הזמן תגובה הנמוך יותר לא מבטיח איכות תמונה טובה יותר בהכרח.

אז ככה (ועכשיו אתה מאלץ אותי לכתוב בעברית):

בהתחלה קניתי מסך LCD וממש לא היתי מרוצה ממנו. שקיבלי את הLCD הזה לפני מספר ימים, כלכך שמחתי שטלפנתי לחנות לספר.

המוכר הציע לי לכתוב ב-hwzone וכך עשיתי.

עם פעם היה קשה להוציא אותי מהמחשב, אז עכשיו זה בלתי אפשרי!

מסך מדהים.

מאיך שאתה מתאר את זה נשמע כאילו אתה באמת מפרסם את זה.

אתה מתאר את זה כאילו זה הכי טוב בעולם!!!!

זה נכון!

במשך שנים למעשה "התפשרתי" על איכות תמונה.

עכשיו אני ממש לא רוצה לחזור אחורה ל-CRT.

תמיד בעבודה (בעיקר) - היו לי מסכים "מטושטשים". למעשה אני שוקל לקנות LCD לעבודה. אלה מה - זה עדיין יקר מידי.

אבל, ככול שאני חושב על זה יותר ויותר - אני נימצא הכי הרבה זמן בעבודה!

רוב הטענות שלו הן בעד LCDs בכללי, לא דווקא בעד המסך הספציפי הזה ככה שאין פה שום דבר מחשיד לפרסום.

מסך טוב, אבל יקר... תתחדש

אני עדיין חושב שCRT טוב יותר שווה.....

אני אשאר בינתיים עם הIIYAMA שלי

בדיוק הפוך ממה שנסיתי לומר...

תראה: גם אני הייתי שמרן כמוך, אבל היום מסכי ה-LCD _באמת_ טובים - הרבה יותר טובים מה-CRT המסורתיים.

עכשיו הבחירה בידך: להתקדם (LCD) או להשאר מאחור (CRT).

יתכן ושהבעייה שלך היא כלכלית. אם כך - sorry אבל אם לא אז באמת שאין מה להשוות.

(זהו - נקווה שלא נצטרך להגיב יותר!)
