לפי ההגדרה של חציון, עבור רצץ מספרים ממויין החציון ימצא במקום N/2 כאשר N הוא סך כל המספרים בסדרה.

כמו ההגדרה של חציון היא גם מספר הנמצא במרכז הסדרה בצורה כזאת בצד שמאל של הסדרה המספרים יהיו קטנים או שווים לחציון ובצד ימין גדולים או שווים חציון.

אם כך מה יהיה החציון בסדרה הבאה:

A = {1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 3}

לפי ההגדרה הראשונה זה 1, אבל זה לא מתאים להגדרה השנייה.
