According to the specs you gave me, I estimate that your power draw under full/peak load to be about 540 watts. While it is rare (if ever) to have your entire system at 100%, it is safe to assume that this is how much power you need.

I would add 25% for headroom and if you plan on any upgrades, an additional 25%.

Headroom is important because power supplies are generally at their most efficient at 50 to 80% of their capacity running cooler and providing their cleanest power.

540 + 25% = 675 watts

540 + 50% = 810 watts

From these figures and your application, I would recommend the Silencer 750 Quad. The Turbo-Cool 860 (I am leaving out the ESA version as this feature only works with Nvidia chipsets) would also be a good option, but it is louder than the 750. If noise is not an issue for you, the 860 would be a good choice as well.

My computers configuration is simple:

No over clocking

A quad Intel processor, probably the Q9550.

4 MB of DDR2 RAM

Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard

UP to 4 disks, first two 500GB each.

DVD + (Probably in time a separate ) burner

A creative sound board

A power supply and a case (inc multiple fans)

Please notice that PNY specifies Minimum 580W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 40A)*

Also, theres the issue of the cable convertors required for the GX2. Are you aware of that? Are those convertors provided with the PSU, or does one need to buy them separately?

I really appreciate your help in selecting a power supply!

אני לא ראיתי אף אחד שממליץ על ספק 500W לכרטיס כמו ה-GX2 (שהוא בעצם SLI של GTS512).

גם ספק של 650W יספיק לכזאת מערכת.

הוצע לו בעבר כבר PCP&C 610W והוא קיבל אישור פה בפורום.

TX650 גם יחזיק בלי שום בעיה ויהיה סופר איכותי.

שורה תחתונה, יותר מ-600 A"ח אין שום סיבה להוציא על ספק למפרט חזק כולל הכרטיס מסך הנ"ל

דור, אני מסכים אתך שגם ה-610W יספיק. הסימן - באתר שלהם, באיפורמציה על הספק של ה-610W, יש הוראות איך לחבר אותו עם ה-GX2.

מה שהוא מציין בתשובה שלו זה שכדאי לקחת ספייר של 25%, כי אז הספק פחות מתחמם ומוציא מתח יותר נקי.

ההבדל במחיר (בזאפ) בין ה-610 ל-750 זה 180 ש"ח. אני מתלבט בין שניהם.

כמו שהוא גם רשם בהודעה, המצבים בהם אתה תגיע לשימוש של 100% בכל הרכיבים הם נדירים ביותר.
