האמת שכבר שאלתי באיזה פורום (עדיין ממתין לתשובה), אז במקום לנסח את הבעייה מחדש אני פשוט יעשה copy-paste :

I recently got the Asus P5N-T Deluxe motherboard (Paired with a Q6600 G0).

* flashed to latest bios (1001)

* disabled some known bios options for best OC results

* set FSB to 1600 linked synched (800mhz ram)

* set Multiplier to x8 - which results in 3.2ghz for the Q6600.

* all Voltages on Auto, except Vcore which I set to STOCK

(taking vdrop into account)

now, this setup runs very nicely and is stable AFAIK.

the problem Im having is as follows:

when I POWER UP the system, it halts at post.

then I reset + enter bios, and see the multiplier has been changed back to x9 (leaving all other settings untouched).

I set it to x8 again and everything works fine (XP pro SP2/3), benchmarked and stressed as I wish. games work gr8.

the wierd thing is that as long as my system is not POWERED OFF it would have no issues at all. I can hard reset and all, but when turning off via Power Button - it will surely halt / reset multiplier the next time I power up the system.

any suggestions as to the cause ?
