Sorry for the English - but I' work in English - I know there must be ::someone:: out there who can help. At wit's end here with no where to turn.

Here's what happened. I got a birthday present - of a new pc. Someone put it together with new parts - - very nice. Except I can't record. And recording is THE most important thing for me right now.

I just got a new PC with a Foxconn MB - Realtek integrated audio. Downloaded the latest drivers from Realtek - power up and no go. Sound is coming out but nothing is going in. Of course went into master volume controls - checked there - everything is ok. Same in Device Mgr. Tried recording from line-in and CD in Audacity - silence. Can't record. Put the mic in the *pink* jack - did everything I'm supposed to and now I'm ready to hear some good advice on how to tweak the system to get it to record. Here are my specs - XP Pro SP2

Running Win XP pro. Downloaded latest drivers. NOTHING is helping. I think there's a conflict between the FOXCONN and REALTEK chip. Before I throw the whole bloody thing out the window (don't worry nobody walks under there) - is there anything short of putting in a USB external sound card?

And where on earth can I find a Creative USB el cheapo external card tomorrow? Why are these things so hard to figure out here. :::::crying::::::

Please

Anyone

Help

Thanks
