Worms franchise hits Wii next year

THQ has today confirmed development of 'Worms: A Space Oddity' for Wii, marking the first time that the long-running franchise will appear on Nintendo's console.

Utilising the Wii-remote and nunchuk's accelerometers for gesture-based control, 'A Space Oddity' takes place across six planets and will feature online multiplayer gameplay for up to four players via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The publisher also confirms that the instalment will feature a departure from the usual visual style of Worms, and will instead bi "inspired by classic Sci-Fi looks."

Whilst Wii gamers will have to wait a few months before they get to play 'A Space Oddity', DS and PSP owners won't have to wait much longer to get their Worms fix - 'Worms: Open Warfare 2' is due for release on August 31 across both consoles.
