I recently bought a new computer with an intel P4 2.4B and a Gigabyte GA-8PE667 Ultra 2 board, after formatting and installing all my programs including Sandra i was quite surprised to see Sandra claims that my motherboard supports SMP and that I should add another CPU to the system, it also insists to compare me to Xeon and Athlon MP based systems in all the benchmarks.

I am referring to SiSoft Sandra 2003 professional , if anyone has any idea how to resolve this issue i would greatly appreciate the help.

Disable HyperThreading in the bios and it will not detect SMP capability, but why do you care ?

I wasnt able to find that option in the bios even after a thorough search through it, some guidance please.

Dont get me wrong, the fact the board supports Hyperthreading is good, the fact it insists to detect it without a CPU that has Hyperthreading is what bothers me.

Perhaps its irrelevant, but nonetheless I would prefer if it would detect it as a single CPU system, just like it is.

It is reporting SMP capable, not SMP active!

If you would have an HT enabled CPU SMP would be reported active and you would see 2 CPUs in the task manager and any other CPU detection software.
