    VIA היא חברה שמייצרת ערכות שבבים (chipsets) בדיוק כמו AMD-ATI, Nvidia, INTEL וכד'. הבעיה איתם היא שמאז ערכת השבבים KT400 למעבדי ה K7 של AMD לא ממש הייתה להם ערכת שבבים מוצלחת, שנתנה ביצועים טובים והתעלתה על כל השאר באותו טווח המחיר (לפחות לא לשוק הביתי). זה לא שהם מייצרים ערכות שבבים גרועות, פשוט ערכות השבבים שלהם פחות טובות מערכות שבבים מקבילות באותו טווח מחיר. זה גם מסביר את המחיר הנמוך.
