sorry for the english but im in Chicago now and i knew i should come here and trust your opinion instead of the other sites.

so here goes:

i have a P4 3.2

1gb ram [4x256]

x800 xt 256

Asus p4p800 se

im playing a lot of games like Battlefield2, i edit videos too and wanna upgrade my overall performance

so i decided i wanna "throw" my generic memory, and upgrade it to 2 sticks of 1gb.

i went on ebay and talked to this seller, about a samsung memory:

asked him about compatibility just to make sure [even though i knew it should work with my motherboard:

the seller emailed me back and told me that he investigated my motherboard and that

those samsung sticks WILL NOT be competable with my board since

the P4P800 SE requires low density (64x8) ram,

and while the Samsung ram is high density (128x4) ram, it wont work

he is telling me i need something else like this:

1.is he right? or just trying to sell me a more expensive memory?

2.how BIG will the difference of performance be after upgrading u think?

did any of u did something similar with his computer and can tell us?

just that theres no way for me to know if putting almost 300$ into this will be worth it

and if i will ever see any performance improvment.

i have a good PC even though it isnt latest technology [PCIe and so] but i feel i can improve the memory.

thats all i can do i think.

I dont know if you can read Hebrow so im writing this in english

first of all -you realy dont need 2 GB of ram 1GB is more then enough for you rig

second the board supports up to 533 DDR ram in 184 pin slot

i dont see any reason that the first memory stick will not work

i recmmend that you sould buy a 1 Giga ram in to in to sticks and thats it

( i never heard on low of high density )

my guess he talks about the fact the the ram memory chips are on both sides or are they on one side of the stick

as far as i know there is no difference

2x 1GB is good

Samsung is better, it can overclock very well mostly

I checked into it(googled it) and found some test they did on gamespot(it's a little old)

They swaped cpus ,graphic cards and memory to see the effect on the frame rate . The only thing they found that helped the frame rate was a more powerful video card. Adding more memory had a marginal effect.

In my opinion it's pointless to invest in this old rig. It's better to wait until you outgrow it and get a new one.

It's a 478 motherboard with ddr1 and AGP and you already got a very good video card. I dubt you can push this rig's performance much farther by doing hardware upgrades .
