I have a computer for 2.5 years, and I want to upgrade my graphics card a little, just so I can hang on to this computer for 2 more years, and then I'll buy a much better system (dual core etc..)

What I have now:

Motherboard: Abit NF7-S (version 2)

CPU: AMD Athlon 2600+

Memory: 1024

Graphic card: Sapphire Radeon 9600

I found a medium price card for $99 (canadian): Sapphire ATI Radeon X1300 256MB DDR DVI-I TV-Out AGP 8X

What do you think? Should I get it, or another one, or maybe I should just wait until I buy a new system in about 2 years??

try to find a second tire card, something used and beter than the one u have

As I mentioned, I want to give a "little" upgrade to my computer. I don't want to spend a lot of money, because I will buy a new system in about 2 years. I want to spend $50-$100.

Do you think it is worth it? Will it give me a nice boost, compared to what I have?

BTW, Can someone please explain to me the difference between the 9xxx series (9600, 9700, 9800...) and the x series (x800, x1300...) ?

I am really confused about these two card series, and I need a way to compare between the cards.

low end cards

mid-end cards

So I understand that the x1xxx series is better than the 9xxx BUT because the 9800Pro is one of the best in the 9xxx series AND the x1300 is one of the lowest in the x1xxx series, then in the end the 9800Pro is better than the x1300... OK!

One last question:

Since I have the 9600, is it worth the $90 (tax included...) to get the 9800Pro? Is it a large jump in performance?

Well, the bas news is that the store was out of stock with the 9800Pro (the website wasn't updated). Also, the guy at the store told me that, compared with what I have (the 9600Pro), the 9800 will not give me a good boost in performance, and that it's not worth the $90. Is that true?

Also, he suggested I try to OC my card! What do you think, is it a good idea?

I downloaded ATITool and RedLine, and I'm not sure how to use them safely.

Do you have any suggestion (maybe another OC utiilty) on how to OC my card in a safe way? Are there any guides online how to use these utilities?

k so you got two options first is OC that you can gain extra boost to graphic card but wont be נראה ממש לעין and לא תרגיש שממש ביצועים עלו
