Version 2.53 (2006-07-03)

ENHANCEMENTS:

1. Reduction of (re)boot time from a deep sleep. This firmware boots in about half time with 1,000 songs.

2. Improved behavior of fast-scrolling when the Touch Pad is kept pressed. A player stops fast-scrolling at the first/last item.

3. Improved access to playlist files. The previous implementation enumerated playlist files every time a user accessed to the playlist menu. Although this firmware limits the maximum number of playlist files to 100, users can browse playlist files quickly as the player caches the list of playlist files.

4. Improved HDD control. (I couldn't understand the Japanese translation for this item)

5. The maximum number of items in text, photo, and browser modes is now increased from 600 to 1,000.

BUG FIXES:

1. Bug-fix for unstable sound problem(?) when User EQ is enabled.

2. The LCD backlight was not illiminated in some cases when a player wakes up from a stand-by state.

3. Bug-fix for incorrect genre-navigation in MUSIC mode.

4. Inexistent dates (e.g., 31th June, 32th June, etc.) were used for naming recoded files.

5. Keep LCD backlight on when [Next] or [Previous] button is pressed.

6. Fixed a volume-boosting problem after an EQ setting is enabled.

7. Bug-fix for browsing photo files as small as 1px.
