I was told the A70 is very good. the best for that price range, but after reading about it I heard alot of talk about the Error E18. is that still exists in today's A70?

anyway I'm looking for a digital cam for around 1500.

-analog zoom (the more the better)

-manual settings (shutter, exposure and focuse)

-cheap memory card type (like CF)

-small delay between clicking to taking the picture (the smallest the better)

-sequential captuing

-movie w/ sound

not renewed, unless it's very good and that's the only way it will fit somehow in the budget.

manual settings are important but I want a cam that I won't have to wait for over 250ms for shutter to just begin openning. I have a friend who got this cheap ass HP cam (something like 300 nis). and I kid you not it takes at least 1.5 seconds for the shutter to close and at least 3 seconds more to save to the memory. I consider 300-400ms delay acceptable, but less is always better. and what the A70 delay time, btw?

note: I am going to buy a 128mb/256mb memory card, but the 1500NIS budget is just for the camera

It takes about three seconds to power up and be ready to take the first shot.

In the Large SuperFine mode it takes about four to five seconds to process and

store the three-megabyte image.

And going from Record to Play or vice-versa also takes about two to three seconds.

The all-important shutter lag (delay from pressing shutter until picture is actually captured)

is about 0.6 to 0.7 seconds, a little faster than average thanks to the robust autofocus system.

0.6-0.7 seconds is good for a digital camera. but if someone has been able to make a camera with a less than 0.2 seconds delay, then that's just too much. I only need manual setings for artistic type photoes so it's compromisable, except for manual focous, that's a must.

the only problem I see with the G3 is the lack of manual setting and a much more disturbing problem - it's very ugly.

אתה מבין נכון, אבל כדאי שתלך לחנות צילום ותשחק איתה קצת. המהירות מאוד מרשימה. המקרה היחידי שבו ה-lag ארוך משמעותית הוא כשהמצלמה מתקשה לפקס על נושא בעייתי (מעט קונטרסט/פרטים).
