למה אין אף מפרט עם XEON?

יתרונות: שני מעבדים על לוח האם, מלא זיכרון, זיכרון עם ECC.

יש סיבה שלא? זה בגלל שאף אחד פה לא התעסק עם זה? למה בעצם?

טרם שמעתי על חובב משחקים שברצינות היה מוכן לשלם קצת מעל 12,000ש"ח רק בעד מערכת-הבסיס (מארז/ספק-כוח לתחנות-עבודה, לוח-ראשי לתחנות-עבודה, 2 מעבדי Intel Xeon E5520 + פתרונות-קירור מתאימים, ו-16GB זיכרון ECC/Regd. בתצורת 4x4GB) - ולא שזה היה עוזר לו הרבה מבחינת שיפור ביצועי המשחקים (השקעה במערך כרטיסי-תצוגה חזקים הייתה מניבה שיפור ביצועים גדול בהרבה הרבה יותר בנקודה זו).

ומערכות כאלו ממילא מתאימות בעיקר לשימושי CAD/eCAD/CAM/3D-CAM, עריכת-סרטים, פיתוח תוכנה, החזקת בסיסי-נתונים גדולים, ולמגוון שימושים מדעיים ואירגוניים - היכן שישנם מומחים המסוגלים בד"כ להגדיר-דרישות וליישמן בפועל, ואינן מיועדות בד"כ לשימושים ביתיים (בעיקר מבחינת תקציב, גודל פיזי, וצריכת-הספק).

אם לא שמת לב 99% מהדיונים שפותחים בפורום מפרטים הם לא למתרות בדיוק מקצועיות כמו של סימולציות בדינמיקה של מולקולות או חישובי מזג אוויר.

ב1000ש"ח אפשר לרכוש לוח אם בעל ערכת שבבים X58(במקרה של ה920) או ערכת שבבים P55(במקרה של ה860), דיסק קשיח, זיכרונות DDR3, מארז, ספק איכותי?

מעבדי Xeon הם מעבדים יקרים מאוד וכמו ש hw_joe ציין כבר, מעבד Xeon E5520 עולה כ2200ש"ח.... וכמובן לוח ראשי לתחנות עבודה עוד כ2500ש"ח... ודאי שמערכת מבוססת מעבדי Xeon היא מערכת מדהימה, אך הכל תלוי בסכום שאתה מוכן להשקיע ועד כמה באמת אתה צריך מעבדי Xeon.

בחו"ל ישנם סיבות לבנות מחשב מבוסס Xeon 3520 שמחירו דומה לCORE I7 920

ויש גם מעבדי LYNNFIELD במחירים לא רעים.

אבל זה רלוונטי רק לאנשים שצריכים זכרונות עם תיקון שגיאות (או לאנשים שעושים אוברקלוק ורוצים מעבד שעבר BINNING טוב יותר)

בארץ זה פחות רלוונטי.

קודם כל - אני מתנצל. רקע - הייתי בארוחת ערב משפחתית, ישבו לי על הראש, ניסחתי לא איך שרציתי, איך שלחצתי שגר ראיתי שזה לא איך שרציתי, רציתי לתקן ולא יכלתי. איתך הסליחה. לא היה פה עניין של זילזול אלא של ניסוח שלא יצא לי מוצלח. אני אתנצל גם בפרטי.

מה שהתכוונתי לומר זה: אני לא מבין בזה. אם אתה מבין בזה (ואני מבין שאתה מבין בזה ) אנא אשש את טענתך.

ממה שאני מבין, אם מחשבים מחיר כולל של מחשב - מארז, דיסקים, ספק, מסך, כרטיס תצוגה, לוח מקשים, עכבר, רמקולים, מערכת הפעלה - כל אלו לא משתנים אם אתה בוחר שילוש עם i7 או עם Xeon. מבחינה זו מחיר התוספות - בנפנופי ידיים, זה נגיד 9000 ש"ח. נגיד ששילוש i7 עם 8GB עולה 3000 ש"ח ושילוש Xeon עם 8GB עולה אפילו כפול - 6,000 ש"ח (שוב - המספרים ללא בדיקה, סתם תחושה). אז במחיר הסופי אתה מקבל הפרש בין 12K ל-15K. יותר יקר - נכון - אבל אתה מקבל מחשב יותר אמין, ועם יכולת גידול - במחיר של עוד מעבד אתה מקבל יכולת חישוב שהיא יותר גבוהה אפילו ממה שה-i9 יתן...[br]פורסם בתאריך: 12.12.2009 בשעה 00:26:40

בדקתי. בארה"ב קומבו לוח אם עם XEON עולה $730, קומבו של i9 עולה $420. סה"כ הפרש מחיר של כ-300 דולר. מצאתי כבר שיחס הפרשי המחירים זה כ-50% בין חו"ל לארץ. ז"א שהפרש המחירים זה כ-1700 ש"ח.

אני מצטער, אבל (באמת) אני לא בטוח שהבנתי. על איזה הפרש מדובר - ההפרש בין Newegg למערכות Xeon בארץ (שאז ההפרש הגדול עושה את זה כדאי), או ההפרש בין i7 ל-Xeon שאז ההפרש הגדול הופך את זה לא כדאי. כדאי או לא כדאי ללכת על XEON?

ואם כדאי, מה דעתך על המפרט שציטטתי? אני קצת לחוץ מזה שאומרים בביקורות שלוח האם הזה "צפוף" ושה-RAID הוא בתוכנה.
