You can use a modern HDD, it will simply run at ATA33.

I personaly installed W.D 80/7200 drive on an SE440BX-2, you just need the latest bios.

i meant to ask i the mobo shall support ata100, cause i have the wd400jb and bm programs reclaims that my hdd runs on mode 2, which suck ! anyway, just thought of buying an ata100/133 ide cable.

You can buy a PCI ATA133 controller card.
