    You can use a modern HDD, it will simply run at ATA33.

    I personaly installed W.D 80/7200 drive on an SE440BX-2, you just need the latest bios.

    i know that already.

    i meant to ask i the mobo shall support ata100, cause i have the wd400jb and bm programs reclaims that my hdd runs on mode 2, which suck ! anyway, just thought of buying an ata100/133 ide cable.

    correct me if i'm wrong, but u thought i'm planning to buy an ata100 supported hdd and 'cause of that i'm asking about my mobo. however, 10x again about the information.

    You can buy a PCI ATA133 controller card.
